Energy Density Functionals (EDF)

From a theoretical point of view, the only reliable approaches for calculating properties of finite nuclei along the whole nuclear chart nowadays are the so-called Energy Density Functional (EDF) methods. These methods are originally based on the mean-field approximation and have been successfully applied to describe bulk properties. In the last decade, EDF methods have been improved by exploring different nuclear degrees of freedom (like deformations) and including correlations beyond-mean-field (like symmetry restorations and configuration mixing).
